The ‘Selfie’, a modern-day form of self-expression and self-portraiture or a form of narcissism? While the ‘selfie’ published on social media can be seen as seeking approval via ‘likes’ for a filtered image of the superficial physical characteristics of self, an argument exists that selfies are a modern interpretation of the long artistic tradition of self-portraiture, made instantly and widely accessible with technology.
